President’s Message Hello, April By Gary Fuchs, NALF president For most of us we finally get to start thinking about spring weather. This issue of LIMOUSIN TODAY is focused on Herd Sires. Based on the time of the year I know most of you have completed your spring calving for this year and are beginning to focus on your breeding plans for 2019. As you read this issue please read about and consider the many sires presented for your consideration in this issue. As I am writing this, Susan and I have just returned from a brief trip to South Dakota. We escaped through Nebraska just a few hours before winter storm Quiana made a mess of the route we travelled. I always enjoy the opportunity to visit with those who travel and produce in the upper Midwest. I have always learned or seen something new on each of my trips to the area and this year was no different. I look forward to more opportunities to learn about the various production systems used by our members throughout the country. I hope each of you have had successful sales seasons. Each year the market seems to be different and we need to continue to adjust. I encourage 6 | APRIL 2019 each of you ,as progressive breeders, to continue to register and submit data on your entire calf crop. Having a complete data set on your production is critical to produce true and complete EPD’s on your herd. Your NALF Board of Directors will meet this month in Lincoln, Neb. Along with the regular business of the foundation, we look forward to educational trips to one of our DNA laboratories and a processing plant. We look forward to gaining new knowledge that can be used for the benefit of our fellow breeders. I wish you continued success in your Limousin endeavors and look forward to seeing some of you at Limousin events throughout the year. I
