RHS Hyde Hall Exhibition

REPORT

by Angie Doy, Exhibition Manager

It has been a most unusual and un-British summer, with soaring temperatures and England almost winning the World Cup.

What is not unusual are the wonderful comments we received from the RHS Hyde Hall staff and visitors alike. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jo Walls, in particular, for her hard work for another well planned and splendid sculpture trail, and everyone who took part and helped to make it a success.

We got a little carried away last year (over 80 outdoor pieces) in our attempt to incorporate more of this vast landscape. This year we returned to approximately 60 pieces, a much more manageable though still impressive number.

Jonathan Hateley’s "Beginnings" was the logical choice to start the trail which wove its way, through the cottage gardens, to the beginning of the long lawned hill. Here the path was flanked by Friedel Buecking’s 2-meter high wooden monoliths and the jurassic jaws of Daren Greenhow’s T-Rex.
