an annual Christian gathering that convened last Thursday-Sunday

by implication political? . . . The atmosphere may seem foreign to
top Democratic Party operatives and even many liberal religious
leaders. But as the religious left exerts an unaccustomed influence
on political rhetoric, Wild Goose has begun to draw recognizable

“AUSCHWITZ SURVIVOR CELEBRATES 104TH BIRTHDAY WITH 400

[Shoshona Ovitz] celebrated her 104th birthday . . . surrounded
by approximately 400 of her descendants at the Western Wall
in Jerusalem. Ovitz wished that her birthday celebration would
be with all of her family together at the holy site. Ovitz survived
Auschwitz after witnessing her mother being handed over to the
infamous Nazi doctor and “Angel of Death,” Josef Mengele,
known for his cruel experiments on prisoners. Her father also

Civil rights laws don’t protect
transgender employees from being fired
because of their gender identity, the
Trump administration argued in a new
filing with the Supreme Court. The
legal brief was filed Aug. 16 in R.G.
and G.R. Harris Funeral Homes Inc. v.
Equal Employment Opportunities Commission, a lawsuit involving
a transgender person, Aimee Stephens, formerly known as Anthony
Stephens, who was fired by a Michigan funeral home. In 2013,
Stephens declared a desire to begin dressing as a woman while at work
and was fired by Thomas Rost, the Christian owner of the business,
who said he was merely upholding a sex-appropriate dress code.

“ILLINOIS GOVERNOR MANDATES LGBT HISTORY CURRICULUM FOR

The governor of Illinois recently signed a bill that will mandate public
schools in the state teach LGBT history, beginning next year. The new
legislation will require schools to incorporate “a study of the roles and
contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people” as part
of the American history curriculum. Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker
(D) signed House Bill 246 into law . . . which will require schools

“AMAZON PULLS BOOKS BY AUTHORS WHO ONCE IDENTIFIED AS

Following the removal of books by a Catholic psychologist amid
LGBT activist pressure, Amazon has removed the works of
other authors who once lived and identified as gay. The works
of Anne Paulk of the Restored Hope Network and pastoral
counselor and author Joe Dallas are among the latest books to
be pulled from the online retail giant. Dallas’ book —Desires
in Conflict: Hope for Men Who Struggle with Sexual Identity—
and Paulk’s book —Restoring Sexual Identity: Hope for Women
Who Struggle with Same-Sex Attraction—both of which until
the past few days were sold on the platform, are now no longer
