LIFT Annual Report 2012: oneLIFT - Page 4

LIFT is many people working toward a common vision Dear LIFTer, We have had an incredible 2012, and we are thrilled to share with you how your support translated into real impact for LIFT families across the country. This year, LIFT continued to buck national trends; while joblessness and economic insecurity continue to affect countless Americans, LIFT helped more clients than ever before on their road to greater stability. LIFT helped our clients access $4 million in public benefits and tax credits, achieve an 80% job interview-to-job placement rate, and generate close to $6 million in wages. We are pleased to have launched LIFT’s first West Coast office in Los Angeles. And even more exciting, we have deployed more than 730 volunteer advocates, who have logged 33,000 meetings and served more than 11,000 clients--all records. Finally, we developed an ambitious five year growth strategy and launched a $10 million growth capital campaign to help us expand our reach and deepen our impact over the next five years. Together, we have had an exceptional year of achievement, and we aim to rise to new heights in 2013. The theme of this impact report is oneLIFT. To us, LIFT has always been about a single community made up of clients, advocates, staff, donors, partners, Board Members, and others collaborating across geographies, roles, and backgrounds in a singular effort to help each other. Each of us recognizes that we have a responsibility to one another. LIFT IMPACT REPORT 2012 80% OF LIFT CLIENTS WHO GO ON JOB INTERVIEWS GET A JOB We are oneLIFT. We are inspired every day by the contributions that you, our supporters, make to our work. And we celebrate this collaboration, and what it has meant for our work with client families, in this report. Unfortunately, the demand for our services continues to grow. In September, the U.S. Census Bureau announced that 46.2 million Americans today live in poverty. That’s 1 in 6 of our neighbors who are struggling every day to make ends meet, and this number does not include the many millions more that live beyond the technical definition of poverty but far from what any of us would consider economic stability. It is for them that we do this work. As you read this report, we encourage you to reflect on your relationship with LIFT and challenge yourself to get involved even more deeply than you already are. You are an essential part of this work. Thank you for your support. Keep LIFTing, Kirsten E. Lodal CEO, Co-Founder 2 80% Michael F.
