SA July 2017 Life Grid 'Giving Local Business a Global Voice.' Lisa Feren - Local Editor Puppy Power by Lisa Weisblatt Feren Hello! I am Lisa Feren! I am so excited to be your local San Diego editor of LifeGrid Magazine! I believe in 100% authenticity within myself, my business and those with whom I choose to work and partner. This magazine truly speaks to me. In my business, my motto is "Be seen, be heard" and that's exactly what this magazine allows me to assist you with - the opportunity to give fabulous, heart-centered businesses a local and global voice. I believe that all of us is unique and and that each of us has something valuable to say and something to teach others. This may come from formal education and professional experience, or from life and "been there-done that" experience. My goal is to find all of you! Get to know you and figure out how to get you seen and heard! I am also a born talker and natural connector. I'm a corporate hotel sales manager turned entrepreneur. I am an extrovert. A coffee addict. A runner and a middle aged ski-bunny. And an ex-New Yorker turned San Diegan. It took me over half my life to get to Southern California, but 15 years ago, I arrived and am happily raising a family and running a business in the heart of it all in the Mission Hills neighborhood of San Diego. 9 months ago, my husband and I made a life changing decision to get a puppy. If you peruse my Facebook page or Instagram, you will soon realize that my 11 month old Vizsla puppy is actually my favorite child (well, at least a close second)! Weeks of sleepless nights, crate training, cleaning up puddles of pee, attending puppy training classes, enduring razor sharp puppy teeth and perfecting my puppy approved "good boy" voice has not only culminated into a well behaved member of our family, but allowed us all to relax and really enjoy life more - through his innocent, unconditional and playful spirit. Saturday errands and chores have been replaced with family walks, exploring new parks, hikes and neighborhoods and dog friendly restaurants and cafes, My kids have rediscovered the fun of tree climbing and just "being" while taking a rest sitting in the sun! Liberty Station in Point Loma has become one of our favorite spots to run and play with their beautifully landscaped grassy areas and manicured trail right up to the waters edge! Dog friendly coffee shops, and restaurants round out a day of play! When the kids are in school or camp, my husband and I love to walk the dog through Balboa Park -which was just named as one of the top California attractions by 10best.com. Just as parents gain new perspective watching their kids learn and grow, I have loved watching my kids accept responsibility over a life, gain this same perspective helping to train and play with the puppy and assist us in deciding what to do and where to go each weekend. Through our dog, our family has enriched our time together, while really taking in so much of what San Diego has to offer! As the San Diego voice of LifeGrid Magazine, I plan to bring you the best of San Diego and their inspiring people and businesses.
