ISOLATED IN YOUR CITY .

by Kez Wickham
am Kez Wickham St George an International Author , creative Artist , Speaker and mentor celebrating life with my first Solo exhibition Hidden Faces .
My Art work has been displayed nationally and internationally and recently described by an Art critic as a ‘ progressive Interactive collection . Placing myself on many walls globally by using my skills in the arts I am passionate about . ‘
After co exhibiting for many years with well known local and international acclaimed artists , I thought it was time to go it alone . I know this particular exhibition ’ s work is unique and unusual ’. One well known art critic saying my work displayed her magical multicultural child hood background that she had transferred to the canvas .
It ’ s been a very busy year with two books about to be published one a kiddie ’ s book Sea Pea , which I wrote as I travelled past Aripaha on the East coast of New Zealand . The seaweed pickers huts mesmerised me as did their lifestyle and stories adding them into her second full novel Metal Mermaid . Then realised what a fabulous children ’ s story it would make . Sea Pea was born .
The other novel an adult paranormal the Indigo Child , is to be published late September 2017 . This novel totally fascinated Kez as she began the story about Tribal transgender , late nights , research and talking with others about this topic , opened up a whole new world for her . It is the 2nd novel in a trilogy called Scribe . In August a writers retreat is being planned for mid winter at Toodyay which looks like a lot of fun as her publisher is joining her .
Both agreeing part of their journey was to show others that to write creatively was also a healing process for many ; It ’ s a privilege to guide them in a journey they can call their very own .
Then off to the Balingup Telling Tales children ’ s festival where Kez is the resident ghost writer , teaching the young ones how to be creative when they write their very own ghost stories .
In late August Peel Manor House is hosting Kez ; she will be the guest speaker , at Dinner with the Author . Kez has been published internationally with six novels , she has been published in a United Kingdom poetry novelette , called Tall & Short stories it ’ s on Amazon to raise funds for the heart cancer soc in UK .
My passion for Mentorship for all writers , playwrights and artists is very close to her heart , as she puts it very simply ’ I struggled in my earlier years with who was who , how & the big why , so to pass on valuable information to those struggling or wondering what to do next is a privilege and an honour .
To help another grow with their passion is not only liberating but a legacy I ’ m always very keen to share . Her first mentorship was a children ’ s book , a young lady Kez met when travelling caught up with her and it sort of went from there , when the young author showed her the final published product Kez knew though her own experiences of both genres ’ she was able to guide others . Since then there have been a few gone public and a few that wanted to keep their stories for family only , two of her most recent Kez mentored was a seventy seven year old who wrote about his family history , plus a Perth family , one who is a playwright ’. Kez ’ s passion for creative art also included the floral baskets she creates sponsoring wearable arts Mandurah .
If Kez knows of charity event , she will often offer one of her creations of Floral Art to help raise funds . ‘ It ’ s a busy life but I love it , if one of my art pieces , books or a little advice can help or take you back to the mystery and magic of childhood , or can twitch a smile into place , then my job is done ’. When Kez was asked for her outlook to the future this was her reply “ I have also come to realise that to share your skills is the very best gift you can give to another , which includes writing and art . I love the look on another ’ s face when they manifest their own dreams because of encouragement .
To see the growth of creativity from a seed to a sapling I still find amazing and to know in some small way I and others encouraged it to sprout . To mentor one another is an honour and a gift , so why not share our dreams , aspirations , goals and wisdom . It does not matter what platform it comes in , as long as it ’ s for the good of mankind .”
