Having undertaken the painstaking and difficult process of re-building my life from the ground up, I can tell you that without any doubt, the truth is that curiosity and creativity are the characteristics that will open up the world and allow your life to flow. So … I decided to break the rules! I started getting curious with my own life. I started asking questions about the ‘rules’ I had in place in different circumstances, and around different things. Here are some of the things I discovered: • I have a choice in every situation, in every second and in every corner of my life. • I am no longer prepared to use all of my energy giving and doing everything for everyone else. Instead, I decided to become a recipient of my own generosity. • I am no longer prepared, nor is it in ANY way necessary, for me to be exhausted and stressed any more. • Creativity is a big part of who I am. So, I embrace it and it is now the focus of my every day. There is a very different way to live and it is no more difficult than learning to ask yourself a few questions. Here are three questions to help you get curious with your life: 1. Do you want to be stressed and exhausted? Or do you want to find another way? There is nothing normal about being stressed and exhausted all the time. Our body has developed a stress reaction to alert us that there is some- thing that we need to give our attention to. It was never meant to be a full time existence. Far from being an ‘excuse to do something differently’, a breakdown will only add complexity and stress to your situation – just in a different way. There is always another way … it’s just a matter of teaching sheiqlife.com facebook.com/sheiqlife instagram.com/sheiqlife yourself to stop and give yourself the time to find it. 2. What are you prepared to do for others that you aren’t prepared to do for yourself? If you spend all your time giving and doing for others, and no time giving and doing for yourself, then you will always be re-energising everyone else. You should always be prepared to give yourself the same level of kindness, respect and love that you are prepared to give to others. If you don’t, you will end up with nothing to give to anyone. 3. Does the rule you have around a thing or situation actually apply to you? Rules are given to us by others and may no longer apply to our specific circumstances. As adults, we get to choose: does a rule apply to us or not? If not, let it go. Harness your creativity and make up a new rule that works for you. It’s your life … so live it full of colour, fun and laughter! Getting curious with your life will open your eyes to a whole new world. You will unveil creativity wells that are sitting there waiting for you to tap into them. Your life is waiting for you. Get curious about it and go crazy!!
