Field Trips

This year we went on two school sponsored field trips and two non-school sponsored field trips. A school-sponsored trip is when you go during the day to a place and you fill out permission forms and stuff. Non-school sponsored trips are when a teacher tells the class to meet them at a place after school hours.

Chattanooga Aquarium

We went to the Aquarium in Chattanooga. While there, we saw fish and turtles, and we learned about underwater life. There were two buses: a boy’s bus and a girl’s bus. There were no electronics allowed on the buses.

Tremont

Tremont is located five hours away in the Smoky Mountains.

We spend three days and two nights there. At a waterfall, we make paint and splash each other. One student was carried about five feet down the river when she slipped on a rock. We also go to Cades Cove, and learn about explorers. In the cafeteria, we are supposed to have no food waste, which results in a lot of humor. John Richardson chugged eight cartons of milk. That’s half a gallon!

Fossil Dig

The fossil dig was a very fun experience. It was a non-sponsored field trip. We met at the Wal-Mart in Sumiton, AL on a Saturday morning. While we were waiting to caravan to the dig site, me and my dad snuck off to a local eatery called the Omelet Shoppe. The omelets were great. At the dig site, we found several amazing fossils, which we were allowed to keep.

Godzilla

This was an unofficial field trip. Mr. Bonaker invited us to come with him and see the new movie Godzilla at the Carmike. The movie was in IMAX 3D. We all enjoyed Godzilla. It was a nice break from the usual field trip where we all go on a bus to a faraway location. I totally recommend Godzilla, as it was a great movie. -John Hedayat
