A busy year at the
EABJM Library:
A look at the
2013/2014 school
year in numbers:
• The library circulated over 10 000 items to students and staff this year - books, BD’s
and audio-visual materials - a new record!
• The library organized, registered and distributed over 6000 textbooks to collège and
lycée students in September—and collected, registered and organized their return at the
end of the year. We also arranged for the distribution of 300 sample textbooks
(spécimens) to our secondary teachers.
• Library staff taught over 100 classes on research and bibliographic instruction, as well
as readers advisory sessions for all grade levels and departments in collège and lycée.
Library orientations, advanced research strategies for specific topics, and recommended
reading sessions made up the bulk of these classes;
• The library maintained the books, website and support system for 16 classes to
participate in almost 2000 Drop Everything and Read sessions. Library staff
supervised over 120 periods of DEAR.We also organized special DEAR classes,
including quizzes for each DEAR class and 8 sessions of “Drop everything and Read–
in Greek!”
• The library hosted 12 literary VIPs during our exceptional literary festival in April.
Over 30 classes particpated in special festival presentations featuring music, fine art,
and literature.
• The library received 10 fabulous student submissions in our annual BD contest, and
handed out over 100 euros for the top prizes.
• The library provided the staff support for EABJM’s student publications, helping to
craft, proofread and publish many fine issues of Bilingues et Artistes and Le Bilingue.
• Librarians hosted close to 30 Reading Club “Coup de Cœur” sessions, with a record
number of participants making presentations and recommendations of over 150 books
and BDs.
• Librarians had reference and bibliographic instruction interviews with each of 57
première IB students, as part of the research requirements for their Exrended Essays.
