As soon as the two friends tried to move from their spot, the ghosts flew into the room, right through the locked door. The portraits of historical personalities, hanging on the walls next to the door, transformed into dark openings as if making more space for the ghosts to get inside.
The ghosts approached Ann and Hazel surrounding them. The two friends could hear a loud and frightful laugh in the classroom. Even though it was dark, the girls could see some silhouettes fluttering in the air. Ann thought she could recognize the ghosts which often appear in the legendary story. Suddenly, the laugh stopped and the girls could clearly identify the words of human speech.
“We know you’ve found out our secret,” pronounced one of the ghosts.
