“Hey, Jack”, Ann could hardly speak. She was sweating all over, although it was cold inside the hut.

“Hello, mum. Calm down! What’s happened?” Jack asked, his voice trembling. 

“Jack, your father is...” Her eyes widened in horror and the line went dead.

After Jack had tried calling multiple times his mother finally picked up the phone.

He asked, “Are you okay, what happened?”

She answered in a strangely calm voice, “Everything is okay, Jack, there is no reason to be worried.”

“You said that something happened to dad, how can everything be okay?” Jack raised his voice.

Ann continued speaking in the same voice, “Your dad is perfectly fine, everything is okay.”

Before Jack could say anything else the line went dead. The young man was confused and worried that something had happened to his parents.

That night he booked a flight back to England in the morning. The next morning everything went wrong, Jacks alarm didn’t go off, he spilt coffee, there were an insane traffic and multiple problems at the airport, but somehow, in the nick of time, he made it. There was
