Course Overview:
The newly introduced Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 Safe Water in Healthcare
Premises ( Part B Operational management ) states adequate training in water hygiene
should be provided for individuals ( supervisors and managers, as well as operatives ) who
work on water distribution systems.
Who Is This Course For:
This course has been specifically developed to enable managers, supervisors and
operatives to comply with the requirements of HTM 04-01, which clearly states water hygiene
training should have been completed.
Key Learning Areas Covered In This Course:
• • Organisational requirement in relation to water hygiene and safety
• • Specific local control measures, policies and procedures
• • Waterborne pathogens and their consequences
• • How water systems, outlets, components and associated equipment can become
contaminated
• • Individual responsibilities in ensuring control measures are in place, effective and implemented
• • Hygiene, practices including personal hygiene, clothes, tools, plant and materials
• • Conditions when working on water systems used for domestic purposes
• • System design
• • Disinfection and cleaning of fittings, components and accessories used in the installation
and maintenance of water systems, including TMVs and taps
• • Storage of pipes, fittings and spare parts

1 day training course, available in York, Slough and Falkirk
