Landlords Legionella Risk Assessment for
Non Plumbing Operatives
Course Overview:
This course is for delegates who need an understanding of how to carry out a risk assessment and
manage Legionella bacteria, in hot and cold water systems within residential accommodation.
Who Is This Course For:
This is designed for landlords, letting agents, or their designated third party, who need to
understand the requirements for legionella control, including the legal duties in respect of
their residents, guests, tenants and customers.
This requirement is in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L8, ‘The control of
legionella bacteria in water systems’ and the guidance contained within HSG274 Part 2 ‘The
control of legionella bacteria in hot and cold water systems’.
Key Learning Areas Covered In This Course:
• • Covers an additional 1 day course in understanding hot and cold water systems
• • Awareness of relevant statutory and non-statutory documents
• • A review of small, domestic type hot and cold water systems in common use
• • Identification of susceptible areas in houses and buildings with small domestic water systems
• • Legal duties in respect of residents, guests, tenants and customers
• • Risk assessment, monitoring requirements and documentation necessary before vacant
properties are re-occupied
• • Water system disinfection requirements, including practical demonstration
• • On-site visit for practical risk assessment exercise
