Control of Legionella Within Hot & Cold Water
Systems and Evaporative Cooling Systems
Course Overview:
This course has been developed to provide you with an understanding of how to control
the risk of legionella within a water system, and evaporative cooling system. It will enable
management of the water system in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice
( ACOP ) L8 and guidance document HSG274 Parts 1,2 and 3.

For managers, supervisors, or engineers who require an understanding of how legionella
bacteria may proliferate within their water system and evaporative cooling system ( s ) .

The requirements of cleaning and disinfection of water systems and cooling towers
The requirements of monitoring systems, including water sampling and what actions to
take in the event of positive count
The requirements of compiling and maintaining the water management Log Book
