Liberia Economic Forum: is a volunteer-based non-profit, not partisan socio-economic and socio-cultural
think-tank that creates the cloud for intellectual discourse and dialogue on macro-economic issues in
Liberia with far reaching policy implications and impacts on the Mano-River Union Region or vise-versa.
We discuss issues around fiscal policies, monetary policies, social policies, macro-economic externalities,
public finance, economic governance, public-private partnership, regional economic integration including
international trade policies, international law, etc. The fulcrum of our analytical work is:
1. To analyze the current and changing macro-economic policy dynamics in Liberia including the
region with implications on sustained economic growth, development and poverty reduction;
2. To propose alternative macro-economic policy frameworks that would swivel the turn on poverty;
3. To create the intellectual cloud that would propel the scholarly exchange, policy advisory and
learning on macro-economic issues in Liberia and the region.
The group shall have three kinds of membership:
1. Senior Fellows: people with kin authority in the subject matters having minimum a Master’s
Degree (preferably PhD) in any of the field of Economics, Mathematics or Governance including
Law with at least 10yrs of progressive professional experience. Must be capable of producing
scholastic papers (Articles, Research Papers, Policy Briefs/Issue Papers for publication in the LEF
Dossier of Journals (DOJ) and Lectures on key subject matters). These are most likely to be
professors, lecturers, PhD Researchers, Analysts, Specialists and Experts in the various fields of
economic and governance. Their role include a) development and publication of periodic
scholastic papers including the above, leading key discussions on specific subject matters of
authority; b) serving as volunteer resource persons providing online lectures and guidance to
graduate research students and the public; and c) providing volunteer-based expert policy advice
to policy makers in Liberia and the MRU, etc. Membership is opened to all around the world with
interest in Liberia and the region and is by application and approval only. Members at this level
will be issued letters of acceptance with clear policy, guidelines and expectations as a Senior
Fellow of LEF.
2. Learning Fellows: students (mostly at the graduate level) or young professionals with Masters
Degrees in the fields of Economics, Mathematics or Governance including Law but with less than
10yrs progressively professional experience, but who are interested in serving as junior analysts
think-tank members. These are people who would be available to commit time to volunteerbased data collection and analysis for the information and production of the Liberia’s Economic
Forum Quarterly Policy Brief. They shall also serve as first line analysts providing mid-level analysis
on key macro-economic issues. Learning Fellows will have the opportunity to publish key grouplevel research papers and documentaries under close supervision of a Senior Fellow. On
exceptional basis, excellent thesis/dissertations of individual fellows, on the request of a Senior
Fellow and the approval of the Council of Scholars, may be published in the DOJ of LEF.

policy, guidelines and expectations as a Learning Fellow of LEF.
