Social Learning Theories

This states that we learn by copying others because we wish to be socially accepted.

Social learning theories are most commonly applied when we are considering how we acquire attitudes and behaviors that help us become socially accepted.

For example young performers will often copy the behaviour of elite performers or those that are displayed frequently in the public eye.

Observational Learning

This is Albert Bandura. Much of our undertsanding of how obervation of others can help us to learn and acquire new skills comes from the work of this man. his focus was primarily on how we acquire general behaviours rather than skill acquisition but he identified many factors that affect how well we learn from observing others.

this process of learning through observation most often occurs when we use demonstrations in a teachin or coaching session.
