NEW The Great Dance Band Era NEW Immigration in America
In the 1930's and 40's fans across
America jumped and jived to the
big bands. They filled ballrooms
and dance halls or gathered around
their radios for live broadcasts.
Who could forget the music played
by Duke Ellington, Guy Lombardo,
Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, or
Tommy Dorsey? Woodchopper's Ball,
Tuxedo Junction, Sunrise Serenade,
and Sugar Blues were the theme or
signature songs of some of the best
bands in the business. The style of
music may have changed throughout
the decades, but on Friday and
Saturday nights ballrooms were filled
with music lovers ready to dance.

great musicians and hear about the
