4-H

CORNER

Welcome to the 4-H Family!

Congratulations! You may not realize it, but your participation in the Learn, Grow, Eat & Go! Curriculum has opened the door to joining the 4-H & Youth Development family. A family that has been going strong for over 100 years!

You may be asking yourself... "What is 4-H?" In the simplest terms, 4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.

4-H accomplishes this task by encouraging youth to have fun and explore topics/projects that interest them. 4-H gives youth the opportunity to pursue a wide variety of projects. Some 4-H youth work with animals,

while others choose food, crafts, sports, gardening or even technology! Whatever the project, 4-H members make new friends, develop new skills, become leaders and help shape their communities. All of these efforts prepare every child to be an active and involved adult citizen one day.

In addition, 4-H is a great avenue for young adults to develop many life skills that include (but are not limited to): public speaking, teamwork, recordkeeping, interview skills, and career exploration. The Bexar County 4-H Program awards 10 of it's local members a $20,000 scholarship every year.
