Design is underway for the necessary
inspection facilities, but the name change
is complete: South Bend International
Airport. Joined by elected officials and
representatives from both the Greater
Elkhart and St. Joseph County chambers,
the airport authority board announced
the improvement April 23. The new
designation requires compliance with
U.S. Customs and Border Protection
officials, but could attract up to 40,000
travelers and $100 million for the regional
economy when international service
begins. The airport’s current annual
economic impact is about $1.7 billion.

Electronic Commerce Inc. has
announced plans to add at least 20
employees by the end of the year, citing
growth in the area of helping businesses
manage human capital with software
solutions. A third of the new positions
will be dedicated to high-skilled
software developers.
For the seventh consecutive year, the
Judd Leighton School of Business and
Economics at Indiana University South
Bend has achieved a “best business
school” ranking by the Princeton Review.
Additionally, Bloomberg Businessweek
recognized the school for having one of
the best MBA programs in the country.
Ancon Construction and Potawatomi
Zoo are collaborating on a project
to create a new red panda exhibit at
the South Bend facility. Safari fencing,
Chinese-themed pavilions and more
amenities will be incorporated. Ancon
also completed design-build services on
the zoo’s river otter exhibit.
Ryan Bailey, a Concord High School and
Indiana Wesleyan University graduate,
has joined the preconstruction team at
DJ Construction as an estimator. Also,
