framework to do the meaningful and necessary work through an equity lens, so that
all students had adequate support, based on
needs. This process resulted in the school
making the greatest academic achievement
in California. The conclusion was really simple: An equity lens is good for all students.
At a meeting, three days before the start
of school, staff was grouped to discuss and
rank things that work, things they can do
better, and things they should eliminate –
and to provide justification for each. Groups
were asked to do this for a number of issues.
As a result of those three days of staff collaboration, the group decided to stop doing
things that were a waste of time and to use
time in a more meaningful manner.
