LEADERSHIP Elevate the Game | Page 4

ELEVATE THE GAME By Tish Kay Bazil In order for a baseball player to make it either to the Big Leagues or to a high performing collegiate team they have most likely played well over 10,000 hours. Even though you may see them specializing in a single position, by the time they achieve notoriety they have mastered many positions on the field. Likewise, as a player, it is vitally important that you come to understand the different vantage points involved in helping you to advance as a human being and an athlete. There is also the coach, and most importantly the parent/guardian. All three of these positions are invested in the betterment of the total player. And guess what? Just like any high performing athlete you need to be familiar with all three of these positions. No athlete has ever succeeded without a strong support network. To that end every word in these next few pages is designed to be consumed with an equal amount of significance and was written for the parent, coach and player to consider. Synergy, or the convergence of the parent, coach and athlete will give you a more defined path to your goals, whatever they may be. There’s an old saying: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. 1
