DON’T STRIKE OUT! Striking out is arguably one of the worst things that happens in baseball. Striking out, for some people, could be worse than a bad hot dog at the concession stand. Some spend our entire baseball career trying to avoid this, yet it still happens. But no matter how talented you are, it’s going to happen! Remember, the pitcher is there to do his job as well, otherwise where would be the challenge in all of this? In baseball, as in life, this is a reoccurring theme. While striking out in baseball can be traumatic, striking out in life much worse. To that end, please consider the following: THE DON’T’S OF STRIKING OUT Don’t be… 1. S-Shady (if you can’t do it in public don’t do it at all) 2. T-Trouble (worried, upset or disturbed- know your game) 3. R-Resentful (know who you are and love yourself for who you are) 4. I-Idle (learn all you can about the game) 5. K-Know it all (stay humble) 6. E-Easy to anger (stay calm, exercise discipline) 7. O-Offensive (don’t go out of your way to make others feel bad by your words or actions 8. U-Unappreciative (show gratitude and appreciation to others and your teammates and coaches) 9. T-Throw in the towel (persevere, never, never, never give up) 9
