Aim of the project was to reconstruct surrounding territory of the bathing place (water reservoir
Laža) in town of Aizpute and make it as a popular
and active recreation zone for the locals of all ages.

About the submitter of the project in a nutshell:
due to the regional reform rural territory of Aizpute was formed
from the rural municipalities of Aizpute, Cīrava, Kalvene, Kazdanga,
Laža and town of Aizpute. 9763 inhabitants reside in the rural territory of Aizpute (data as per01.07.2014). Rural territory of Aizpute
borders with rural municipalities of Skrunda, Kuldīga, Durbe, Vaiņode, Priekule and Pāvilosta. Rural territory of Aizpute dates back
long ago – already in IX century the castle territory of Aizpute were
ruled from the present territory of Aizpute, yet in XIX century and
middle of XX century Aizpute was the centre of the county and
up to 1962 – district centre. Not only the town of Aizpute but also
local villages – Apriķi, Cīrava, Kalvene, Kazdanga – can be proud of
the centuries long history. Rural territory is rich in various archaeological monuments, as well as versatile and beautiful scenery.
Project description:
total reconstruction of the water reservoir of Laža were performed within the frameworks of the Project resulting in bigger
parking place, walking paths, reconstruction of two footbridges, boat stop, construction of changing booths, setting up of
benches and waste bins, creation of the camping area, development of the children’s playground, area for sports activities, establishment of the recreation zone with overhang, picnic tables
and grill spot. After implementation of the project many people
visit territory of the Laža water reservoir as now this territory
has become a lot more attractive providing various leisure time
spending options for the people of all ages and genders.
