Project title: Purchase of basketball and floor ball inventory/equipment for the sports hall of Kapsēde Primary School Aim: Improvement of the sports infrastructure object significant to the rural territory of Grobiņa – sports hall of Kapsēde Primary School – basketball equipment, as well as to purchase floor ball inventory to boost development of contemporary kinds of sport in the rural territory of Grobiņa. Development of sports would promote healthy lifestyle habits among locals and diversify free time spending options. Council of Grobiņa Rural Territory were established on July 1, 2009, combining the town of Grobiņa belonging to the former district of Liepāja with rural municipalities of Bārta, Gavieze, Grobiņa and Medze. Kapsēde is the centre of rural municipality of Medze that is located on the southern part of the rural municipality by the highway P11 or highroad of Grobiņa – Ventspils on the ancient bank of the Baltic lake within 7.3 km distance from the centre of rural territory. Administration of the rural territory, primary school kindergarten, recreation centre, library and several culturally historical monuments are located in Kapsēde. Project description: Project description: Within the frameworks of the project the old basketball baskets in the sports hall were replaced with new, stationary basketball basket constructions equipped with the height regulating mechanism. As the popularity of floor ball is significantly increasing in the rural territory of Grobiņa each year and around 30 locals of the rural territory of Grobiņa have established several floor ball teams of different ages and genders, floor ball field boards, sticks and equipment for the goalkeeper were purchased within the frameworks of the project. The acquired equipment on daily basis is used by 97 pupils of the Kapsēde primary school. In total implementation of the project allowed to create yet another new, accessible, qualitative and safe sports service that promotes spending of leisure time in orderly and contemporary equipped environment, therefore promoting development of healthy and athletic lifestyle. 31
