Understanding the present and future requires knowledge and understanding of the past. The Ambassadors visited the Legacy Museum and Peace Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama to be exposed to and learn about the brutal and deadly legacy of racism in American history and how it lives in our institutions this very day. Prior to this experience, we gave the Ambassadors a quiz on American slavery that the Southern Poverty Law Center provides on its website. The quiz is part of an initiative they started in 2017 that highlights the critical deficit our K-12 education system has in the area of teaching students about the hard history of American slavery.
