Fashion 2013: Active Wear - On the Street With Bill Cunningham
With fashion pulling in so many directions in search of a definitive look for this decade, women are not forgetting the importance of pants (not leggings).
Cunningham photographs people and the passing scene in the streets of Manhattan every day. Most of his pictures, he has said, are never published. His personal independence philosophy was cited by CNN: "You see if you don’t take money, they can’t tell you what to do kid."Designer Oscar de la Renta has said, "More than anyone else in the city, he has the whole visual history of the last 40 or 50 years of New York. It's the total scope of fashion in the life of New York."He has made a career taking unexpected photographs of celebrities, socialites, and fashion personalities, many of whom value his company. In 2008 he was awarded the Officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.
