? Change your thoughts and you change your world .?? NORMAN VINCENT PEALE
Did you ever start the year with the best of intentions but , before January ended , find yourself falling back into the same old patterns that have prevented you from moving forward in the past ? You are not alone ! That ? s because it ? s impossible to set a new course using strong will power alone - you have to change your underlying programming . Without your awareness , much of your behavior and actions are influenced by your unconscious , or conditioned mind . But , just like a computer , you can be reprogrammed too .
The human brain is a complicated and amazing organ . It can be used to gain knowledge , make discoveries and experience great insights . Unfortunately , most people ? s brains usually run unchecked ? unconsciously replaying the conditioning they received as children . If you want to transform your life , you will have to change your thoughts . The seeds you plant and cultivate today become your life tomorrow and beyond .
Did you know that studies have shown that about 80 percent of people ? s thoughts not only are negative but repeat themselves throughout the day ? Repetition of anything deepens the groove of habit and helps it become the norm . It ? s no different with thought patterns . In fact , MRI imaging has shown that negative thoughts stimulate the parts of the brain that create depression and anxiety , making the pattern of negativity even more difficult to break .
So much of our outlook on life develops from what we were taught when we were young . Some of us grew up believing the world to be a safe place to explore and learn from , while others inherited a much darker world ? one of fear , mistrust and scarcity . Which one is true ? It ? s all a matter of what you believe .
We can ? t control the programming we received as children , and we don ? t have control over every situation we encounter in life . But we do have control over how we respond , and it ? s our response that impacts the quality of our life . For example , a person with a negative viewpoint often tries to convince others to see things through their perspective . This not only escalates the issue but reinforces their negative perception about life . On the flip side , another person chooses to take a step back to get some perspective , which helps them figure out a way to best face the challenge . By doing so , they gain new skills and build resilience .
Did your conditioning program you to live in a world of love or fear ? Scarcity or abundance ? By asking these questions , you can begin to unravel the mystery of how you think , to better understand the complexities and conditioning of your mind . Though we are not born under the same conditions , one must take full responsibility for the thoughts and vibrations we put out in the world . With self-awareness , everyone has the ability to reprogram themselves to think in a way that supports them to live happier , healthier lives .
How does one do that ? Start by becoming a curious investigator of your own thoughts . Each time you observe your inner dialogue without judgment , you can learn something about yourself . When you pay attention to your thoughts , you may be surprised by how much of your thinking places blame , undermines your efforts and causes low self-esteem . Without realizing it , you may have adopted beliefs that conflict with your personal truth . By developing greater awareness of your thought patterns and how your mind works , you can develop skills to think differently . By not feeding negative thoughts and by cultivating more supportive ones , new and healthier thought patterns emerge . Through repetition , you can begin to break free of negative thinking and empower yourself by making better choices that help you live a more inspired , creative and fulfilling life .
