Briseida Esparza is a senior currently working on her Bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Creative Writing. This is her second semester working on the Laurels staff. She has been published in UST’s newspaper The Summa as well as their blog The Dome Blog. In her free time, Briseida enjoys spending time with her family, dancing, fishing, and watching movies. Staff Quang Vo is an International Studies major at the University of St. Thomas. A recipient of the Susan T. Scanlon Poetry Award, he is currently a member of the Laurels staff. Staff Francesca Rainosek is in her third year as an English major with a Communication minor at the University of St. Thomas. This is her second semester on the Laurels staff. In her free time, she interns at the Children's Museum of Houston in the Public Relations department. Staff Hannah Vergult is a junior majoring in Communication with minors in Creative Writing and French at the University of St. Thomas. This is her first semester working on the Laurels staff and she is also the News Editor for UST's newspaper The Summa. Staff Janet Lowery has advised Laurels magazine for the past twenty-five years. Her poetry has been published in various journals and anthologies, and a trilogy of her plays (Traffic in Women) were produced on campus in 2006-2008. Her most recent play, A Heroine-Free Summer will be produced by Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre Company at Spring Street Faculty Advisor Studios in the Heights from March 30-April 15, 2017.
