Valentine Sampler -- Laurels 2016

A cold bright star appears in the sky.
It howls and shakes at the edges,
filling the sky with light and noise.
It is the dull sound of a vacuum
consuming all immediate matter,
consuming all but your hands.
They lightly clasp each other on the table.
One hand traces the other’s knuckles,
the bones thin and easily felt beneath your pale skin.
