Roberta: Ms. Issac, I didn’t catch your first name? Ms. Isaac: Oh, sorry, my name is Kristina. Roberta: You want to come into the kitchen with me? I was just putting the icing on the cake. Roberta and Kristina go to the kitchen and Ramona follows her dad and Zach into the living room. William: Have a seat, son. Zach sits down on the brown leather couch. Ramona sits on the other end. William: So, Zachariah, I hear you want to take Mona to a dance? Zach: Yes, sir. William: Well, son, we don’t allow Ramona to listen to secular music in this house. In this house, we serve the Lord. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD! Now that’s the word of God…but, my wife and I have been praying on this. Ramona has told us very good thing about you and you seem to have you head on pretty straight. She mentioned that you were in the book club? Zach answers with a puzzled look. Zach: Uh . . . yes sir. Zach: Ummm, no, sir, maybe, I may have read it but . . . Ramona looks down in shame. She cannot believe the conversation her father is having with Zach. Ramona: Dad!!! William: So are you familiar with that verse? Zach: Uh . . . no, sir, uh . . . I don’t know . . . William picks up his bible and flips to the scripture. William: “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” That’s what that says. William looks at Zach from the top of his spectacles. Ramona looks at Zach and he looks at her and her father. William: There’s another scripture, I was wondering if you were familiar with it? Zach: Sir? William: Matthew 5:28 says . . . 83
