Laurels Literary Magazine Spring 2014 | Page 5

Dear Reader, We are pleased to present to you the Spring 2014 issue of Laurels, our first issue on the world wide web! This semester, the staff found inspiration in the art form known as manga. The digital version of our magazine differs in format from the limited print edition which, like manga, reads from from right-to-left. However, the featured artist’s work still follows the manga format. We hope you delight in the fantastical adventure woven throughout this issue as much as you enjoy the poetry, prose, drama, and artwork we have selected to share with you. We would like to thank our brilliant and imaginative staff members; our beloved faculty advisor: Dr. Janet Lowery; the artist who once again devoted her time and amazing creative vision and energy: Rachel Compson; two former editors who generously shared their technical expertise with us: Laura Gonzales and Janelly Palacios; and our stalwart editorial board: Dr. Clinton Brand, Dr. Shannon Forbes, and Fr. Romanus Muoneke. We would also like to extend a special thanks to all those who submitted their work for inclusion in this issue. Laurels would be impossible to create without you. Sincerely, Onnyx Bei and Brooke Kyle
