treated me like family since the first day and they have given
me the passion to create a legacy in this town and to this
today my heart continues with the needs and wants to help
make Leticia a better place. Leticia is the biggest part of my
life.
Latin Times Media: What is your nick name and why do
they call you that
Jungle Mike: My nick name is JUNGLE MIKE, the reason
is that I have been working in the jungles of Central and
South America for over 40 years and once I settled in the
Amazon in the early 50’s I became well known all over the
USA and the world with my Anaconda fights and Eco Tourism in the Amazon region.
Mike Tsalickis shares his story with

Latin Times Media: Tell us about your family.
Jungle Mike: My father passed away in the mid 60’s and my
mother passed away in the early 90’s. I have six beautiful
children; 3 Sons and 3 Daughters, 20 grandchildren and 7
great grandchildren. Unfortunately my wife passed away
before I was able to come back home. Most of my life was
committed to working 24/7 to be able to provide my family
with what they wanted and deserved.
Latin Times Media: Tell us about your relationship with
Leticia, Colombia
Jungle Mike: Leticia, Colombia is my second HOME.
From the moment I stepped foot onto Leticia on August
1953, I felt a very special connection. The people there have

Latin Times Media: Tell us about your conviction on drug
charges and the 27 years you spent in jail.
Jungle Mike: Under unfortunate circumstances and
wrongly accused, which one day and with plenty of time I
can give you a very detailed account. I was convicted under
the following four counts It was very traumatic and hard
on me and my family because I was torn away from my life
and my family’s life, in a matter of seconds. I was wrongly
accused and convicted on the above charges and it’s very
upsetting to see that our government can change the life of a
family with a snap of a finger, just because they don’t receive
the information they want and when they want it.
