WTMY La Número Uno,
99.1 FM went live in
Spanish in the Venice –
Sarasota – Bradenton
market, the first week of
April, 2019. According to
Geoscape, 250,000 or 17% of
these markets are comprised
of Hispanic listeners, 50%+
of which are Mexican.
“We are thrilled to be launching our new
signal to provide music, entertainment,
news, education, health, sports and fi-
nance information to the underserved
Spanish speaking community,” said
Tomás Martínez, owner and CEO of
Solmart Media LLC. “For the business
owner, our stations represent the only
access to a vibrant and growing local de-
mographic that remains immersed in its
own language and traditions,” said his
wife, co-owner and well known Spanish
broadcast journalist, Mercedes Soler.
With this last radio station acquisition,
Solmart Media now has dominance
over the Spanish language air waves in
Southwest Florida. The station becomes
4th in a group that broadcasts 2 winning
formats targeted in sync at two distinct
and growing Spanish speaking groups.
“WTMY, La Número Uno 99.1 FM, WZZS,
106.9 FM and WTMY, 1280 AM reach a
young demographic. WZSP, La Zeta 105.3
FM skews a bit older. Both signals broadcast
in the most popular Spanish format to date:
