Large-Car Choppers (e.v.) March - 2019 | Page 59

It took 8 years for X-Treme Jim to go out and impress the public. Jim completely drew the sketches by hand and sent them to the Equipement Beaulieu from Bic, Quebec, where they took the plans and put them into a computer to proceed to plasma cutting the parts needed. For 4 years Jimmy gathered information on the specs needed for a built like this, such as; the necessary tubing size, the suspension, the wheelbase and a lot more.

Thanks to Atelier Jean in St-Fabien, that borrowed their machine shop so Jimmy could build his own 26-inch nitrogen racing shocks in the front and 30-inch ones in the back, the axel, etc… A powerful 468-inch big block Chevy engine that pushes between 1200 and 1300 horses with alcohol injection and an 8.71 blower to make it go. To put that power to the ground Jim used a modified GM Turbo 400 transmission and a 5 ton Rockwell F 106 differential and 66 x 43 x 25 flotation tires.

Jimmy Pigeon said that he was very nervous the first time he took the monster truck out since he never had the chance to drive one before he built his.

X-Treme Jim didn’t see daylight for 8 years, and since then he gives 10 to 15 shows a year and keeps surprising the public during each and every show in which he takes part.

Jimmy would like to thank his sponsors; Atelier Jean, Christian Servent Construction Touche-à-Tout, Excavation Robert Fournier, Remorquage Provincial Jacques D'Anjou, Restaurant Bon Voyage from St-Fabien and Construction Francois Beauchesne.
