ADRIAN GRAY IS THE PIONEER OF STONEBALANCING ART
Since his first stonebalancing creations 20 years ago Gray has progressed to monumental installations that are statement pieces with great visual impact . The sculptures work in contemporary and classical settings and are suitable for both private and commercial locations .
The boulders are balanced and a film made to capture the moment of creation . The sculpture is then discreetly fixed in exactly it ’ s balanced position ( for safety and longevity ) to create a seemingly improbable balancing sculpture . They have to be seen to be believed .
Gray uses natural stones , carefully picked and paired to reveal their individual qualities , but sculpted and weathered by natural processes over time , this enhances the organic nature of his work . This more intuitive , less rigorously designed approach seems to be becoming increasingly popular in gardening , urban and landscape design .
