In addition to providing an alternative for traditional walls, the system can accommodate a variety of slope conditions, making it ideal for watercourse restoration, slope protection and erosion control. A recent project in Hampshire highlighted the lexibility of the vegetated bag system. Used to stabilise an undermined streambank, Greenix’s solution was selected due to the ease of moving bags on the restricted site. The bags were supplied ready illed with a mixture of soil, gravel and seed and were built up to ensure correct interlock between courses. The grass seed included in the ready-illed bags had begun to germinate within a few days of the bags arriving on site, which in time will give complete cover of the bags. Greenix Envirolok is designed for simple installation using spikes to connect the bags vertically adding sheer strength to walls. The patented open spike design will not impede root growth like solid connector plates. The bag system is also compatible with proven reinforcing techniques, such as Geogrid or earth anchors, providing added strength for larger and more complex installations. Contractor Michael Green said, “For someone new to installing Erosion Control, the bags were easy to use. They bedded well in the stream and there will be no problems with scour that a hard landscaping product would have.” Standard design details are available and bespoke design suggestions can be provided. They had a shopping centre that required planters and benches but they had been speciied in concrete and the loor wouldn’t take the weight loading.  The technical team at Livingreen Design came up with the perfect lightweight solution without spoiling the overall design.  Only three shapes were used to create attractive planting areas surrounded by benches in a colour and inish chosen by the client, adding Iroko hardwood slatted seats and LED lights to the underneath lip of the seats for the evening.  All of the units joined together from the inside and cannot be seen from the outside.  These displays are all throughout the centre, some inside and some outside. The three shapes were also used to create snake shaped seating areas throughout other areas.   Everything was handmade at Livingreen Designs’ facility in the UK. The irm has hundreds of standard products and specialises on bespoke projects, distributing between 300 – 500 planters a week.  Planters were delivered by truck directly to the centre.  At Livingreen Design, our directors are horticulturally trained so can also offer the best advice on all planter aspects.  The client was delighted and said, “It’s always a pleasure to work with Livingreen Design, a perfect solution and great service.”
