Athletics House League Program BRONCO BASEBALL (GRADES 5-6) Players in this league will be taught the intricacies and situations of the game with the goal in mind of developing Baseball IQ. In succession of the Mustang House League, strategies of the game will be stressed by Recreation Department trained Staff. Teams will practice once a week and will play games twice a week. The month of April will be used for practice time. Teams in this league will play in the North Shore Youth House Baseball League, which is a house league consisting of teams from neighboring communities such as Deerfield, Vernon Hills, and Libertyville. Program format will be dependent on weather. Events will last between 90 to 120 minutes. Pony League is ‘real’ baseball and our Coach’s philosophies and mindset will be geared towards getting the Pony player ready for High School Baseball in a fun and safe environment. Program format will be dependent on weather but, once the weather breaks, teams will practice once a week and will play games twice a week. The month of April will be used for practice time. Pony teams will have paid, professionally trained Coaches. Teams in this league will play in the North Shore Youth House Baseball League which is a house league consisting of teams from neighboring communities such as Deerfield, Vernon Hills, and Libertyville. This is a great program for girls interested in trying the sport for the first time OR for the avid, competitive softball player as skill development will be advanced at the older age groups. While this is a clinic-based program, stressing skill development through drill work and group game play, scrimmages will be played to give players game-like experience. Intensity of scrimmages will be dependent on age group and skill level. Girls will receive a jersey and a visor.
