Athletics House League Baseball PHILOSOPHY OF YOUTH PROGRAMS The Lake Forest Recreation Department provides equal opportunity for all residents to participate in programs. No participants shall, based on race, sex, national origin, or disability, be denied equal access to programs or activities. VOLUNTEER COACHES Parent volunteer coaches and assistant coaches are needed for each team. Parents may request to coach with one other parent in order to work out their personal schedule. If this is abused, we will assign all coaches. If you are interested in helping out, please attend the mandatory volunteer coaches meeting prior to the season. All coaches will be contacted in March with all of the details. NORTH SHORE YOUTH HOUSE BASEBALL LEAGUE (NSYHBL) The NSYHBL was formed in 2015 and is currently commissioned by the Athletic Staff of The Lake Forest Recreation Department. Geared towards the Bronco and Pony age divisions, the NSYHBL is a league comprised of teams from Deerfield, Vernon Hills, and Libertyville. This league is a travel-like league that is driven from House League philosophies and goals. Teams will practice locally and will play games both home and away. This program will feature a paid, trained coaching staff. SPRING TRAINING (HITTING, PITCHING & DEFENSIVE CLINICS) Spring Training will be FREE to any Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, or Pony league player. Staff will train your House League Baseball player in the facets of hitting, pitching, and defense. Offered in March on Tuesdays (Defense/Pitching) and Thursdays (Hitting), our Spring Training Program will give all House League Baseball players the opportunity to sharpen their skills before House League begins in April. Once you have registered for your appropriate House League division, you will also need to RSVP to a training session through Jason Olson as spots will be limited. Further instructions will be communicated to you prior to the Spring Training program by Staff. The schedule of Spring Training sessions is below and ALL sessions will be held in The Lake Forest Gymnasium. Maximum of 25 players per section. If weather permits, we will use the field and batting cage on Deerpath Park, Diamond #2 (Northeast Diamond). Please send your players with the appropriate clothing. Ages/time slots may be combined if rsvp numbers dictate the need.
