FRIENDS OF LAKE FOREST
PARKS & REC FOUNDATION
The Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation helps build beautiful parks, make improvements
and expand recreational activities. Community member support of Foundation sponsored events — The Fred
Jackson Golf Outing, 4th of July Festival & Fireworks, Tree Lighting Ceremony, Oktoberfest, Cocktails with the
Claus,' and Dinner with Santa — raise additional funds to enhance our parks and programs. Below are some
of the examples of the impact our “Friends” have made.
DID YOU KNOW?
• Over $2 Million has been contributed by generous and passionate residents through the Friends of Lake Forest Parks
& Recreation Foundation since its founding in 2000.
• Contributions through the Foundation have allowed more than 300 children from financially challenged families to
attend Park & Rec programs.
• The Pavilion at Townline Park was funded by the Foundation. When you visit, look for the dedication plaque on the
west side of the building.
• The Foundation acts as a fundraising vehicle for dozens of local community organizations saving them tens of
thousands in administrative, legal, tax, and audit costs annually. These include: Wildlife Discovery Center, LFDA
Performance Companies, LFBA, Squash Club, Sailing, ELAWA Farm, and Kinderhaven Preschool Academy.
• The Friends of LF Parks & Rec Foundation supported renovations that created the upgraded racquetball/squash
courts at the Rec Center.
• Funds from the Fred Jackson Golf Classic were donated to purchase existing patio furniture and to refurbish
countless benches at Deerpath Golf Course by the Foundation.
• The Steven Malin Baseball Field at Everett Park, the Daniel Jaekel Basketball Court at Waveland Park, and the Gary
Kreischer Batting Cage at Deerpath Park are all Foundation projects - without the Foundation’s structure in place,
each project would have set up their own Foundation, wasting tens of thousands of dollars on administrative, tax,
audit, and legal fees.
• Many of the boats used by our award winning Lake Forest Sailing program were donated through the Foundation.
