Exciting News!
WDC HAS BECOME AN ACCREDITED BIOLOGICAL FIELD STATION
This summer, the Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS) welcomed the WDC as
a new member. The mission of the OBFS closely mirrors that of the WDC; both support
research, education, and outreach programs. It is the goal of the WDC to host researchers;
expanding opportunities for graduate-level students. The Lake Forest Sailing Program
and the WDC will soon partner, the former providing the use of some of boats to conduct
research on Lake Michigan. Membership in the OBFS will increase the WDC’s opportunities
to interface with many like-minded organizations worldwide. Stay tuned to our Facebook
page for more updates and ways to become involved!
Helping Wildlife
HELPING INJURED OR ORPHANED WILDLIFE
If you have found a seemingly orphaned animal, or an injured animal that is not in imminent
danger, before taking any action, contact The Illinois Department of Natural Resources
Northeastern Office at 847.608.3100. Many young animals might seem orphaned when the
parent is merely nearby, but out of sight. If it is necessary to rescue an injured animal, do
not attempt to give it food or water without first obtaining guidance from the IDNR or other
qualified expert.
Adult VIP
ADULT VIP BEHIND-THE-SCENES EXPERIENCE
The Wildlife Discovery Center can provide a unique experience for you and your friends: a
VIP tour of the facility. This is an opportunity to get “behind the scenes” and interact with
some of our most interesting animals. Whether you wish to make arrangements for an
intimate group, or incorporate the experience into part of a celebration or special event, we
can work with you to make it happen. Enhance a reception or cocktail hour with interactive
tours of the exhibits with trained staff. Pricing is based on the number of staff members
needed to provide support for this 90-minute experience.
Please contact Rob Carmichael, Curator, to customize your ideal VIP Behind-the-Scenes
Experience at 847.810.3663.
