Bring your friends and family and join us for one of Chicagoland ’ s largest reptile exhibitions . Enthusiasts and experts from around the region will exhibit more than 150 snakes , lizards , turtles , tortoises and more . Visitors will have opportunities to meet , handle , and learn about many of these animals with representatives from museums , universities , zoos , nature centers and private collections . Featured exhibitors include Jim Nesci from Cold Blooded Creatures , the Chicago Herpetological Society , the St . Louis Herpetological Society , The Field Museum , the Madison Herpetological Society , the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and the Grove Nature Center . Children will be able to engage in many activities , including face-painting . A silent auction benefitting the Wildlife Discovery Center and various conservation programs ( such as the Crocodile Specialist Group of the International Union of Conservation Nature , the Crocodilian Advisory Group of the Association of Zoo and Aquariums , and the Turtle Survival Alliance ) will be ongoing throughout the day .

The Animal Encounter Program is a 30-minute session with one of our “ star " animals . This an opportunity for you and your guest to experience a safe , more intimate encounter with an animal listed below . With the guidance of one of our animal keepers , you will learn about the animal ’ s natural history and how we care for and interact with it . All fees generated from this program fund animal care .
