NORTH SUBURBAN SPECIAL RECREATION ASSOCIATION ( NSSRA ) SHINING STAR AWARD
Lake Forest Parks & Recreation is honored to be chosen as 2018 NSSRA Partner Agency of the Year !
In April , we received NSSRA ’ s Partner Agency of the Year award for our support of NSSRA ’ s programs . We provide space for Kids Club , a Saturday social club for participants ages 10-15 , host Gator Softball at Waveland Park each Tuesday night during softball season , and our beach is a favorite for NSSRA camps . Additionally , the CROYA program has been a welcoming environment for many teenagers with disabilities . Lake Forest has been a tremendous advocate for NSSRA as we always looks for ways to accommodate new participants . DOWN WITH HIP HOP ( 10-17Y ) This class is designed to help students with Down Syndrome explore an interest in dance , music , and self-expression . The class goals include teaching rhythm , safe stretching , body awareness , building self-confidence , enhancing social skills , and having fun ! Miss Denita has years of experience teaching people with different learning styles . She looks forward to bringing energy and musicality to this fun class .

JUDD GOLDMAN ADAPTIVE SAILING
Lake Forest offers instruction to sailors with physical disabilities . 15 hours of instruction ( six 2.5 hour lessons ) are available for $ 100 . See page 17 for more details and information .
CAMP AWESOME ( 9-12Y ) This sailing program is dedicated to teaching children who have high-functioning special needs . Campers ages 9 to 12 will be working with U . S . Sailing trained instructors who are also trained to work with special needs sailors . This one week , half day program is highly flexible and set up to meet the needs of your child . GREAT LAKES ADAPTIVE SPORTS ASSOCIATION ( GLASA ) PARTNERSHIP
Last spring we hosted GLASA ’ s Inaugural Adaptive Archery Clinic for youth and adults with a physical disability . We hope to do this again and look forward to partnering with GLASA on more programs in the future .
