Tap Academy Classes

Tap dance is an upbeat form of American dance that was influenced greatly by African rhythms
and Irish dance styles and utilizes tap shoes and the floor as percussive instruments. Our tap
program focuses on principles of rhythm, musicality, tap history and performance quality.
C LEVEL CLASSES ARE CONTINUATIONS OF THEIR NUMBERED LEVEL COUNTERPARTS. SEE PG 42 FOR MORE INFO.
INTRO TO TAP (6-7Y): Intro to Tap is a beginning tap class for 6 & 7 year olds.
TAP 1 (8Y+): Tap 1 is a beginning tap class for ages 8 and up.
TAP 2: Tap 2 is a beginning/intermediate tap class. Teacher recommendation only.
TAP 3: Tap 3 is an intermediate tap class. Teacher recommendation only.
TAP 5: Tap 5 is an advanced tap class. Teacher recommendation only.
TEEN TAP (13-18Y): Teen Tap is a class for the dancer, ages 13-18, with three or more years of experience who is looking to
study tap technique in a more relaxed environment. Classes offered by the semester.
OPEN LEVEL TAP (13-18Y): Open Level Tap is a class for the students, ages 13-18, with little to no dance experience who is
looking to begin studying tap in a more relaxed environment. Classes offered by the semester.
