Beyond the Academic...
Our students’ academic achievements are only part of the picture. At Lady Lumley’s Sixth Form
you are encouraged to develop a confident and outward-looking approach to life through a wide
range of extra-curricular activities. There are many opportunities for you to develop your interests
alongside your academic studies and the quality of experience in Sport, Music and Drama is
impressive. In these and many other areas such as Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and community
service, you will have the opportunity to further develop your talents and demonstrate your
leadership and organisational skills. In-house extra-curricular activities include the popular
monthly Open Mic sessions in the Common Room. Lady Lumley’s School has also taken teams of
students on amazing expeditions to places such as Ecuador, Morocco, Tanzania, the Himalyas and
the jungles of Borneo.
Personal Development Programme
We want our students to leave the Sixth Form with the best possible life chances and so we offer
an extensive Personal Development Programme which includes careers and destinations advice.
We also invite guest speakers from business, industry and universities to further inspire and
engage our students. Students have the opportunity to attend work experience placements during
enrichment on Wednesday afternoons. We employ a careers advisor who works with students to
explore courses in Higher Education or routes to employment and students have access to a wellresourced careers library. For those thinking about higher education, our very experienced sixth
form team ensure our UCAS procedures for entry to university are excellent. And, of course, we
keep a careful eye on each individual student’s progress throughout their courses, with advice and
support being given wherever necessary.
