LAC STE. ANNE COUNTY ABOUT ASSESSMENT & TAXATION Supporting essential County services. The Assessment and Taxation department annually prepares, communicates and defends property and business assessments across Lac Ste. Anne County. Through fair and equitable assessments, the resulting property and business taxes support the essential municipal services provided to County residents and business owners. ABOUT ASSESSMENT To ensure all property and business owners pay their fair share of municipal taxes, the County conducts assessments each year that reflect the market value for property or the typical net annual rental rate for business as of July 1st of the previous year, as provisioned by the Municipal Government Act. Assessment notices are mailed each year in May. ASSESSMENT NOTICES An Assessment Notice is mailed to residents each year, and provides them with the assessed value of their property. It also contains the name of the property owner, mailing address of the owner, legal description, municipal taxes, school taxes, roll number (refer to this number when making inquiries), tax classification, final date to file a complaint, complaint filing fee and the annual payment deadline. Property assessment, used in combination with a tax rate set each year by County Council, determines municipal property tax. LSAC WELCOMES YOU HOME 780.785.3411 www. LSAC .ca The assessment information is included on your Tax Notice. If any information on your Tax Notice is incorrect, contact the Assessment department immediately. TAX PREPAYMENT PLAN The Tax Prepayment Plan (TPP) program provides property owners with the opportunity to make 12 consecutive monthly property tax payments, as opposed to a single annual lump sum payment. There are a number of convenient payment methods available. If a property owner is enrolled in the TPP, the monthly installment payment is automatically adjusted to reflect any change in the current year’s tax levy. The Property Tax Notice will indicate the adjusted monthly payment amount. Property owners can enroll in the County’s TPP program at LSAC.ca/TPP. PAYING PROPERTY TAXES The County accepts cash, cheques or post-dated cheques — either in person at the County office during business hours, or deposited in the Envelope Depository by the main office entrance. Payments can also be made through your local financial institution — either in person or via online or telephone banking. POSTAL CODE & POST BOX Canada Post assigns the postal code and post box for your property. Contact your nearest Canada Post office/agent directly or online at canadapost.ca.
