THE BULLETIN Vol 23 Issue 25 Monday, June 18, 2018 Heritage Days Parade 2013 Onoway & District Chamber of Commerce Business Of The Year Submitted by: Ed Gallagher, Parade Organizer Saturday, June 9th was the annual Heritage Days Parade. Once again, it was organized by the Onoway & District Chamber of Commerce. It was a cloudy day, with rain threatening (as al- ways seems to be the case). The entrants began to assemble at 9:30 a.m., judging began at 10:30 a.m. and the parade commenced on time at 11:00 a.m. We had dozens of entries in 6 categories. Many entrants focused on this year’s Heritage Days theme of “Family Fun Fitness”. The judges were Onoway’s Deputy Mayor, Pat St Hilaire and the large crowds. A few drops of rain preceded the parade, but thankfully a downpour did not occur during the event itself. By noon the pa- rade had concluded and the participants and onlookers were off to their next event of the Heritage Days weekend. Finally, special mention goes to the Onoway Junior/Senior High School students who vol- unteered to man the traffic control barricades Legion’s Scott Sadler, both of them renowned vol- unteers in our community. Ribbons were awarded to recognize the top three in each category. The win- ners in each category were: • Business: Onoway Veterinary Clinic • Community Organization/Church: NE Lac Ste. Anne Rural Crime Watch • Bicycles: Chase Hunter Robinson • Antique or classic vehicle: Richard Pfleger (1952 Ford Pick-up) • Equestrian: Allan Potter • Other: Al Shamal Silver Wings (Shriners) The parade went off without a hitch, with the usual Continued on page 3
