Lac Ste. Anne Bulletin July 31, 2017

THE BULLETIN Vol 22 Issue 31 Monday, July 31, 2017 Royal Canadian Legion 132 Submitted by Lorinda McCool Monday July 31, 2017 Greetings from the Onoway Legion. During the summer months the Legion does not hold regular meetings but everyone is invited to join us on Tuesdays after 6:30 PM for Pub and Games Night and Fridays after 2:00 PM. It’s hard to believe we are already into August but the lessening daylight hours are certainly hard to miss! Scott Sadler’s Steak Night on August 4th is always well at- tended and you are urged to call Bob at 780-967-3640 to re- serve your plate. Due to the price of meat, the cost of the steak supper is $17.00 and the burger supper is $12.00. Our meals are always accompanied by salad, pickles, the main course, dessert and tea or coffee. No one ever leaves the Legion hun- gry. Our thanks to Bernie Dupperron and Val O’Toole for their gen- erous donation and delivery of a 15 cu. ft. upright freezer for the bar. The extra space is quite a bonus with ample room for food now that pool tournament meals are sold from the bar and not the kitchen. Submitted by Larry Villneff: “Good morning everyone. A spe- cial thank you goes out to the thirteen individuals who partic- 2013 Onoway & District Chamber of Commerce Business Of The Year ipated in the Fun 8-Ball Tournament held on July 22 at Onoway Legion 132. In ad- dition we would like to thank the volun- teers who supported the tournament, with food preparation and clean up (Glo Ja- helka, Patricia St. Hilaire, Carol Villneff and Broley Huxley) and with the always supportive and friendly bar service (Liane Wenckowski). Over the day (9:30 am to 4:30 pm) our players completed 156 games, on our new set up of three tables, with the following top 5 players all finishing within 11 points of each other and sharing the cash payouts. 1. Bob Badry with 214 points; 2. Bill Buhr with 210 points; Lou Giroux with 209 points (Lou also won the 50/50 draw); Karl Wichowski with 205 points and Dave Klause with 203 points. Remember our next tournament is August 26th.” Friday Night’s Meatloaf Supper on July 21 was fairly quiet but those customers attending were very complimentary with some people commenting “Best Meatloaf Ever”. Bob C., Ron W., Marcelle J., Doug J., Glo J. and Meila S. were responsible for the tasty meal and also stayed to help with the dishes and cleanup. Marge Chieduch won the free meal voucher, Cheryl Sadler the meat draw (same as last week!) and Bernie Dupperron the 50/50 draw. There are going to be some changes in the kitchen after the end of August. Kitchen Co-ordina- tor and Head Cook Bob Clark is resign- ing to pursue the po- sition of Division 2 Councillor in the up- coming Lac Ste. Anne County mu- nicipal election. At Continued on page 3
