4.2.3.3 Non-Malaysian Employees: Other Cash Payment (Annual)
Half of all employers profiled paid bonus to their non-Malaysian employees in 2015. In terms of
severance payment, none of these employers made this payment to their non-Malaysian
employees in 2015.
Expatriate and PR employees received an average annual bonus of RM11,300 in 2015, while the
average bonus for foreign workers was RM560. The computation of average bonus payment per
employee was based on total bonus paid for the year 2015 for the particular group of employees
and total number of employees in June 2016 (excluding employees of establishments which did
not make any bonus payment). Hence, it was assumed that all employees in the establishments
which offered the bonus payment received the payment.
