4.2.3.1 Non-Malaysian Employees: Basic Monthly Wage
Overall, average monthly wage per expatriate / PR employee was about RM13,000 (75% of them
were in the managerial and professional job categories). Foreign workers earned about RM1,100
of basic wage per month.

Across the job categories, average basic monthly wage for expatriates / PR in managerial and
professional roles was around RM16,000. Meanwhile, foreign workers in all job categories
earned an average of RM1,000 – RM2,000 per month, except for those in managerial roles (less
than 1% of them).
