4.1.2.2 Malaysian Employees: Other Cash Payment (Annual)
66% of employers paid bonus to their full-time Malaysian employees in 2015, while 29% paid to
their part-time employees. In terms of severance payment, only about 3% of employers paid to
their full-time employees.
Full-time employees received an average of RM6,600 in bonus payment in 2015, with male
employees receiving 50% more than their female counterparts. It should be noted that the
computation of average bonus payment per employee was based on total bonus paid for the
year 2015 and total number of employees in June 2016 (excluding employees of establishments
which did not make any bonus payment in 2015). Hence, it was assumed that all employees in
the establishments which offered bonus payment received the payment.
